WHAT ARE YOUNG ARTS PROJECTS?

A Young Arts Project is an arts related activity for an individual or a number of young people, which has been funded wholly or partly by a NADFAS society. Each one differs according to local circumstances. The format depends on local needs, facilities and funds available from a society and other organisations.

The aims of Young Arts are to encourage young people in the awareness and appreciation of fine arts in the hope that it may enrich their lives in the years to come.

Harlow DFAS has participated in Young Arts Projects for eight years involving two local schools, Matching Green and Sheering.

On the 4th April, 2011 Essex County Council awarded grants to 27 Essex-based voluntary and community organisations. The grants are made each year from the Council’s Millennium Fund and the Chairman’s Fund, and Harlow DFAS was delighted to be among four Harlow organisations which were awarded grants from the Chairman’s Fund. The £1300 grant will be used by the society towards the purchase of a digital projector to aid their work in promoting the fine arts in Harlow.
